Conjugation
A conjugation is a grouping of verbs, in Latin, you have 4 Conjugations. You use the Infinitive to find the conjugation, that is the second principal part, to see which a verb belongs. The importance of conjugations become more apparent as we continue with conjugating our verbs
Infinitive Endings
1st Conjugation- amo, amare, amavi, amatus - to love
2nd Conjugation- sedeo, sedere, sedi, sessurus - to sit
3rd Conjugation- curro, currere, cucurri, cursurus - to run
4th Conjugation- audio, audire, audi, auditus - to hear
Each conjugation tends to follow a certain pattern, as you can see here-- they may not ALWAYS follow these patterns, but they are good indicators
1st Conjugation: -o, -are, -avi, atus (-urus)
2nd Conjugation: -eo, -ere, -ui, -tus (-urus)
3rd Conjugation: -o, -ere, spelling change, -us (-urus)
4th Conjugation: -o, -ire, -ivi, -itus( -urus)
